Once the installation of the thermal panels is complete, cold water will pass through the roof-mounted solar collectors, where free energy from the sun will be absorbed to heat the water, before depositing it in a hot water tank for future use. 2How Solar works
Solar Hot Water Heaters work by absorbing energy from the sun’s rays in the roof mounted solar collectors and transferring this to hot water stored in the tank. Ground mounted direct systems rely on an inbuilt circulator to push the water through the system, whereas roof mounted systems rely on a natural ‘thermosiphon’ effect. Water passes through the solar collector where it is heated, then moves out of the collector and into the tank. The tank gradually gets hotter until the water reaches its maximum stored temperature. Indirect systems use a special heating fluid rather than water to absorb heat from the collectors. The heat is transferred to the water in the tank via a heat exchanger. Solar Hot Water

Energy efficient – cuts energy use and greenhouse gas emissions by up to 64%. No solar collectors – reduces structural load on your roof and can be used where Solar roof collectors aren’t suitable. Replacement for electric water heaters – uses the same plumbing and electrical connections as an electric water heater, making it an ideal upgrade from a standard electric water heater. 2 piece design – results in a reduced handling weight, making it easy to deliver and install on site. Back up element fitted in all models – delivers hot water even on the coldest of winter nights. Eligible for a STC Government incentives – Rheem Heat Pumps are eligible to receive Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). When suitable, product can be connected to lower cost tariffs – which helps to further reduce running costs. 5 year cylinder warranty & 2 years on the sealed system.
4Small-scale Technology Certificates
Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) provide a financial benefit to encourage the installation of Solar Hot Water Heaters provided under a Federal Government legislated scheme. STCs are available for eligible Solar Hot Water Heater and Solar PV installations. One STC is equivalent to a megwatt hour per year (MWh/yr) of electricity displaced by an eligible system. Solus Energy Solutions will deduct the Government Incentive (STC) off your Solar Hot Water Quotation so that you can see exactly what you will be paying. As of 2017 these incentives are being reduced annually until eventually they will no longer be available. This is the reason that you need to take action NOW!
